After scouting a few bookshops over the weekend, I managed to find this hot selling book at Times Atria last Wednesday. I read it in one sitting; makan pun sambil baca. Berhenti for solat and shower only.
Spoiler alert. If you don't want to know, close this window now. If you are my type, tak sabar nak tahu the ending, read on.
Anyway, here's my rant. If there is one word that I can use to characterize Warda, it would be stupid. Oh, and selfish! (Fine... two words!) Sighhhhhhh how stupid can you get girl??? (I tried to console myself by saying, kalau dia pandai takde lah drama kan? Tapi I masih berbulu!)
After all your prior attempts to mengelak from meeting your ex flame Muslim, senang senang jer you agree to meet him from just one text message?
Why do you insist on keeping secrets after secrets from your husband? With the lame excuse of protecting him? Oh puhleazee. Men are much more resilient than that! That's why they have that nine akal and one nafsu thingy, while we have the vice versa.
And last but certainly not least, your most epic stupidity. Kalau you were the indirect cause of your husband's accident, wouldn't you work hard to make things right? Ini baru kena jerit sikit, dah merajuk sampai lari rumah for over four years. Didn't your first runaway incident teach you anything? Orang yang sakit, memang lah emotionally erratic. Yang you nak emotional terlebih tuh apehal?? And if you were so intent on leaving the country without telling anyone that the child in your womb survived, why did you ever come back with the girl in tow? Rindu family? Itu namanya tak pikir panjang girllllll.
Ok, jarang I membebel in Malay. Feels good to do so once in a while. #mothertonguewins
Anyway, that brings me to the end of my satu buku melayu setahun quota. I'm glad I chose the book though. Despite the stupidity (and some eye sore grammar mistakes) it was quite a good read. I just wish she was a bit smarter. If you can get an engineering degree, you ought to be smarter than this! *sigh*
I thought long and hard about what I was going to get for him. Unlike me (who has about a zillion things in my shopaholic list), my man is quite content about what he owns. So what do you give a man who has everything? You give him love and affection!!! *giggles* Okay fine, I'll stop being corny. To cut a long story short, I bought him a new phone. Somehow or rather, he managed to crack the screen on his last two consecutive phones, and once he mentioned in passing about how much he loves the quality of photos from his S6. Hence I decided to give him the S7 Edge, not just because he deserves a new phone, but also so he can take beautiful photos of me! *flips hair*
Anyhow, this blogpost is to share our experience celebrating Hubby turning mid-thirties at Nobu KL. I've heard many rave reviews about this place - not only for the excellent dishes but also for its exorbitant prices. Since you only turn 35 just once in your life, I decided to give it a try.
I scouted the place a couple of days before the event. I was able to make a booking, and even pre-order a personalized birthday dessert in advance. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to book a specific window table specifically for the sunset experience. The window tables were on a first come first serve basis!
Come the actual day, we arrived at the restaurant sharp at 6pm. Albeit it being a Friday night, thankfully the restaurant was still empty hence we scored ourselves a private window corner with an excellent view of the KL skyline and a side view of the Petronas Twin Towers. The restaurant has a warm and simple woody interior, which was great as it didn't overshadow the 56th floor metropolitan view. That night, not only did we witness a stunning sunset, we also saw the Twin Towers light up at about 7ish pm.
Loveeeee the S7 Edge camera!

Perfect sunset.
Food wise? Spectacular! Initially I wanted to take the Omakase set - where you get surprised by whatever the chef selects and prepares for you. (Omakase in Japanese means "respectfully leaving another to decide what is best".) But since it was our first time there, the nice lady serving us recommended for us to try Nobu's worldwide signature courses instead. And it was such a good choice too! We chose everything that she recommended, about 5 courses in total not including dessert. (Each Nobu course is meant to be shared as the servings are just nice for two, maximum three people.) By the time we got to the fifth course, we were absolutely full!
Salmon New Style Sashimi, RM65.
We both love salmon sashimi, hence this was our favourite out of all the cold courses! The soy-sesame oil emulsion they used was to die for!
Yellowtail Sashimi Jalapeno, RM70. We were urged to eat the jalapeno together with the sashimi, to bring out the taste of the yellowtail. The tangy Yuzu sauce went very well with the spicy jalapeno. The yellow tail was so fresh, it melted in my mouth. Two thumbs up!
Baby Spinach/Butter Lettuce Dry Miso with Scallop, RM85.
We loved this one too - the greens were fresh and crunchy. The scallops were amazing!
Service was impeccable. Since they served the cold courses first, we took our time and took lots of selfies (courtesy of the new phone). Even with the delays, every course was delivered smoothly to the table. The staff took the time to explain every dish they sent, they even suggested novel ways of eating the course to bring out the taste in every bite.
Last photo before darkness fell. Baby Tiger Shrimp Tempura - Creamy Spicy, RM60.
Twin Towers in the background.
Last but certainly not least, the highlight of our meal - the Black Cod with Miso. We were lucky to be given a thick succulent piece of cod (we compared with the table beside us). The miso marinated cod was grilled to perfection. You could literally use your chopsticks to 'peel' each layer of the fish. Without a doubt - a Michelin-worthy dish.
Nobu's signature Black Cod with Miso, RM135. It came with a strip of ginger, as a palate cleanser at the end.
This is definitely a must try. Such a cardinal sin if you skip this!
At the 4th course (before Miso Cod) we thought we were still hungry hence we added a Soft Shell Crab roll, RM50. We won't do it again next time, as we felt full as soon as we finished out cod, and the roll wasn't anything to shout about anyway.
Note that they have a cakeage charge for outside cakes, which they will gladly waive if you order any of the desserts from their menu. I decided to be lazy and just order ahead; I chose the Chocolate Sphere as it had a theatrical theme to it. It was such a gastronomical hypnotic spectacle - hot chocolate is poured over a chocolate dome which then melts away to display a scoop of ice-cream hidden within it. We oohhh-ed and aaahhh-ed as the dome began to fall off. Watch the video below:
Sorry for the blur photo - in all the excitement, it turned out to be our only photo with the cake!
Chocolate Sphere - Dark Chocolate Dome, Cinnamon Custard, Almond and Green Tea Crumble, Sake Kasu Ice Cream, Hot Chocolate Sauce. Hubby was amused at how the crumble crackled on the plate and even in his mouth.
Happy 35th birthday, darling!
Last photo for the night. Wearing the Zea top from the Aere Hope collection.
Thanks Nobu KL, for turning Hubby's birthday into such a lovely and memorable outing. We will definitely come again, not just for the friendly service and incredible ambiance, but specifically for the sensational tastes we experienced!
When I first started dating Hubby, this girl was only in Standard Six. Fast forward to nearly twelve years later, this little girl is not only married, but siap langkah bendul two of her elder sisters lagi. *giggles*
Alhamdulillah, the wedding is now done and dusted. Thankfully, the bride was gracious enough to hire a wedding planner and exempt yours truly from making the wedding dessert table. Therefore, this whole wedding experience was soooo different from the last wedding we organized in the family. No baking cakes or carting mason jars around. Seriously, all I had to do was look good.
Hence here are the photos of all of us looking good during the day:

Love this hand drawn poster.

And their husbands.
Aiden completely ignored the wedding, he was too busy playing this at the clubhouse.
With the new brother in law, this brings the family to a total of 12 members!
The main intent of the house renovation was to segregate the living hall from the chaotic dominance of the kiddos. Our previous living hall was like a one stop shop; not only did we entertain guests there but the kids watched TV, ate and even slept in the same space. Toys littered the floor, sofa pillows were stained with milk marks, comforter tido piled in a corner... Well you get the gist.
With the new family hall, my dreams of having a separate elegant and pristine living hall for entertaining finally came true. But first, we had to move the TV and the TV panel out of the living hall and into the family hall. Kalau tak move the TV, serupa la macam tak buat ape ape... It's like the kids gravitate towards wherever the TV is!
Anyway, Hubby being Mr Thrifty (well one of us had to be it, kalau tak habis lah our savings #imsuchashopaholic)... He wanted to salvage our TV panel. He refused flat out to pay for a new one. I was sort of on the fence. I guess I just didn't have the faith in Hubby, acting like Mr DIY and all. To add on to that, our renovation contractor had some doubts about whether they could rip off remove the TV panel without damaging its structural integrity. Ms Pushy (that would be me) told them to at least try. I mean, if it breaks in the removal process, then Hubby would simply have to accept it with a heavy heart and toss it into the bin... But at least he knew they tried.
Instructions for our renovation contractor. See how the kids conveniently laid their toys on the side?
The removal process.
Happy to report that from using a substantial number of workforce and some very careful prying, they managed to take the whole thing out in one piece. The very next day, Hubby got to work with redoing the TV panel. Using some laminated flooring from Houz Depot, he completely transformed the originally white TV panel, to a 'wooden' look that matched our family hall floor!
Work in progress.
Eons ago I had this 'brilliant' idea of painting over the brown drawers. It took me an entire night to scrape the white paint off (using a spoon!), to get them back to its original brown.
Looks easy enough! Simply cut the laminated strips to fit, and glue them to the surface.
Glue for laminated flooring.
Unfortunately the laminated strips were not long enough to fit the entire width of the panel.
I initially thought that the lines in between strips of the laminated flooring would look ugly. But Hubby was right, I barely noticed it once the transformation was complete. So so happy with the end results! But what's more important, is that we didn't break the bank to get what we wanted. Every cent matters!
Tadaaaaaa... the end results!
How our family hall looks now.
Remember our living hall sofa? We turned one sofa around 90degrees to transform it into an L-shaped sofa. Wide and comfy enough to cuddle up for a movie!
A new TV panel would have cost us more than RM2k (based on our observations at the recent HomeDec). With this DIY, we spent ~RM350 for two boxes of laminated flooring, some glue and a brush. I love DIY projects!
Bottom line is, reuse and recycle whatever you can. And, have faith in your husband once in a while. *chuckles*
Hello peeps! How's your week treating you? Me? I landed myself a bout of diarrhea right after my sister in law's wedding. Great luck right? But that didn't stop me from hosting a post-wedding breakfast for the extended family, afternoon tea for the groom's family and attending a thank you dinner by the newly weds.
Anyway... today is my first day back at work - hence the Friday Blues. Before I get started with blog posts on the wedding and the house revamp, here is a recap of my week before the wedding!
The Interior Designer Makeover
Super happy with the end results, but unfortunately I'll keep the 'after' photos tucked away in my camera for a little bit more. For now, here are some photos from when they were doing the make over. (If you can't wait for my after photos, head over to my Interior Designer's official IG: Lentera Creative for his photos. Jangan sangkut tengok rumah Fasha Sandha jer ok... Scroll lower *chuckles*)
So happy with your work, Am!

Rumah Kena Terjah
Welcomed our first few visitors at our humble abode. My aunts were the first to pay us a visit. I treated them to a home-cooked lunch, a freshly baked birthday cake, followed by tea in the garden gazebo. Right after that, a neighbour dropped by too to see the house transformation with her own two eyes.
Impromptu pound cake.
Kena terjah.. aaaccckkk!
Sad News
While I was already on leave in preparation for my SIL's wedding, I received a message asking whether I knew any doctors in the neighbourhood who could attend to an emergency - it turned out to be a case of drowning at our clubhouse pool. Menggeletar masa baca that message. I immediately called a fellow doctor neighbour whom I knew was on leave and she rushed to the pool to help. Unfortunately, one of the child who drowned did not survive. *cries* If you can, please sedekahkan Al-Fatihah for adik Sakinah. She is truly an anak syurga.
Doa Selamat
We hosted a doa selamat for my SIL's wedding, two nights before the actual wedding. An hour before the event was to start, our renovation contractor finally put the finishing paint touches on the kitchen ceiling, and cleared the maid's room off their construction equipment. Talk about getting it done in the nick of time!
Gang jubah hitam... not!
My favourite step sister came over for a gossip session too!
The Alphabet Duck
A fellow duckie graciously extended her invite to me for the VIP preview of Duck's latest LE scarf - the Alphabet Duck. Coincidentally a friend received an invite too so we made it into a girly date! Although I thought the price was a bit too much for a scarf, I still ended up buying one - naturally the letter L, of course! Oh Vivy, you have turned me into a full blown Duckie!!! *quackquack* During the event, I met a lady who introduced herself to me as my blog reader! It was such a delightful experience ;)
Crazy quacks at the Alphabet Duck VIP preview.
My name is L! Or should it be an A? Hmm...
Thank You Dinner
Last but not least, the thank you dinner from the newlyweds marked the start of my diarrhea terror. To be clear, I don't think it was the spread from the said dinner as my maid and I already had some stomach discomfort earlier. Rather, we concluded it was probably one of the meals we had in between the entire wedding chaos.
We occupied three tables at Muhibbah! Kesian newly weds had to foot the bill. *giggles*
Look at that spread... food coma!
Showing off my KL Duck in Ash Blue. This is suchhhh a hot colour to own!
Anyway, that's all from me. Hope you all have a productive weekend. Me? I'll probably be slaving over Aiden's books - it's exam week!!! Hopefully I'll get to squeeze in a movie... have you guys watched Deepwater Horizon?
