Welcoming Ramadhan

How are your Ramadhan preparations going about? Are you prepared both mentally and spiritually for the holy month?

Honestly, I don't think I am fully prepared for Ramadhan. I've always assumed that I would be offshore now. But due to an unexpected crane breakdown in Australia, the vessel I was supposed to board is delayed, and suddenly I will be home during Ramadhan! My mind was tuned to accept the fact that I would be working, hence zero preparation was made for the complete opposite circumstances...

In matters of worldly preparations, I've washed and prepared my telekung, bag solat and water bottle for tarawih. I have yet to purchase any dates for berbuka, but I'm sure we'll figure it out before our first Iftar. (Funnily, I've already ordered kuih raya and our favorite daging dendeng for Syawal. #ohmypriorities) Need to stock up my fridge adequately though, for sahur. Grocery shopping tonight!

Spiritually, my aim is to make time to recite the Quran while waiting for berbuka. I don't know how that's going to turn out though, cos this is the first year that Aiden will be schooling in the afternoon, so how I juggle work, pasar Ramadhan and picking him up after school is going to be a learning experience. I'm also scratching my head trying to figure out how to squeeze his mengaji and piano classes in between tarawih. Another aim is not to miss tarawih. Which is why I'm doing a Criminal Minds marathon now so I don't get distracted about rushing home after tarawih just to catch the latest episode on Astro. InsyaAllah will also find the opportunity to do good deeds throughout the month. May Allah grant me guidance and sincerity in all my actions.

Before we officially kickstart Ramadhan, I apologize if I have written, said or done anything to offend you. I wish you all a blessed Ramadhan, and selamat berpuasa!
