After scouting a few bookshops over the weekend, I managed to find this hot selling book at Times Atria last Wednesday. I read it in one sitting; makan pun sambil baca. Berhenti for solat and shower only.
Spoiler alert. If you don't want to know, close this window now. If you are my type, tak sabar nak tahu the ending, read on.
Anyway, here's my rant. If there is one word that I can use to characterize Warda, it would be stupid. Oh, and selfish! (Fine... two words!) Sighhhhhhh how stupid can you get girl??? (I tried to console myself by saying, kalau dia pandai takde lah drama kan? Tapi I masih berbulu!)
- After all your prior attempts to mengelak from meeting your ex flame Muslim, senang senang jer you agree to meet him from just one text message?
- Why do you insist on keeping secrets after secrets from your husband? With the lame excuse of protecting him? Oh puhleazee. Men are much more resilient than that! That's why they have that nine akal and one nafsu thingy, while we have the vice versa.
- And last but certainly not least, your most epic stupidity. Kalau you were the indirect cause of your husband's accident, wouldn't you work hard to make things right? Ini baru kena jerit sikit, dah merajuk sampai lari rumah for over four years. Didn't your first runaway incident teach you anything? Orang yang sakit, memang lah emotionally erratic. Yang you nak emotional terlebih tuh apehal?? And if you were so intent on leaving the country without telling anyone that the child in your womb survived, why did you ever come back with the girl in tow? Rindu family? Itu namanya tak pikir panjang girllllll.
Ok, jarang I membebel in Malay. Feels good to do so once in a while. #mothertonguewins
Anyway, that brings me to the end of my satu buku melayu setahun quota. I'm glad I chose the book though. Despite the stupidity (and some eye sore grammar mistakes) it was quite a good read. I just wish she was a bit smarter. If you can get an engineering degree, you ought to be smarter than this! *sigh*
hahahaha yeay ada spoiler alert.. takyah dah cari buku to read or to watch the drama.. baca your summary pun leh rasa sakit jiwa.. ni nak baca satu buku? ishhh
ReplyDeleteHahahaha tak berapa nak spoiler sebenarnya. But I think you can already guess the ending kan kan kan ;)
Deletehahah..good try Liz.ada sikit mcm mak nenek, i give u 4setengah star.
ReplyDeletePasal cerita Mr.pilot tu, i rs that's girl mcm sengal pun ada jugak, why not beterus terang je, then runaway AGAIN!! mcm lari dr masalah then the simple way RUNAWAY..*gerrrrr tepuk dahi
errr, ending dia APA? haha cliche
LOL!!! Yessssss ade tokoh mak nenek! ;) Ending dia, of course la si pompuan tuh main tarik tali ngan si laki. Dalam hati nak, di mulut tanak. Eeeeee geram! And as expected, happy ending lah. The end. :P
DeleteSumpah I try to support the Malay literature industry. But I just can't. nanti I start ranting tak sudah. Kudos to you for reading a whole book.
ReplyDeleteHahaha babe don't give up just yet. I enjoyed Projek Memikat Suami (quota buku two years ago), specifically cos the english grammar usage is A++. ;)
DeleteHahahahaha my thoughts exactly! I didn't even want to get the book because seeing the drama daily upsets me! Yet I still watch it every night.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I can so relate! It is so addictive, once you start you can't stop. 3 more episodes, then we're done!
DeleteI couldnt even start haha. Tak sanggup babe.
ReplyDeleteAwwww come on babe, jump on the bandwagon with us!!!! ;)
DeleteI have stopped watching it halfway and am just waiting for it to finish to watch it one go on the net..hahaha. I bought the book too on the weekend since I stop watching it (still wanna know the endingkan and I read some comments that the book is better than the drama :)..My thought, the drama has its own strength and you don't really have to read the book. That is why I like Michael Ang's drama walaupun cliché..but going back to Warda (more from the book), as an educated person, it wasn't written/portrayed as such so that is a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree, the televised drama has its own strengths. The fact that you sakit hati menyampah and all that after watching it, is a sure sign that it was acted well. The book on the other hand could have done better justice to the drama by portraying Warda as a smarter lady. Engineers are typically an open book, simple minded people. But then again, if she had just said whatever she needed to say to her other half, instead of simpan terpendam sedih sorang sorang, tak cukup storyline pulak to sell the book. ;)
DeleteThanks for your short review sis, I guess this book is a no no then. I did consider buying, since I didn't watch the slot on TV3. Didn't attempt to watch the drama on TV, its probably because Fattah Amin was never my favourite actor, or because I always feel some (some not all) malay dramas are bad influence for my kids.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana. Despite the portrayal of Warda in the book, I actually enjoyed the storyline. Hope you have better luck with future Malay TV dramas ;)
