Our 11th Anniversary

Eleven years ago today, Hubby and I got hitched.

I'm not one to get mushy and such on this public blog. Instead, I wanted to share a few photos of our wedding for this blogpost. Well imagine my shock when I looked into my computer directory and found that all my wedding photos had been wiped out! There must have been a fatal error when saving files due to moving hard drives over the years.

Thank god I remembered burning our wedding photos into a CD over a decade ago. Turned my house upside down to look for the said CD. Oh the irony - in a world of USB sticks, cloud sharing and such, it took a piece of CD to save the day.

Anyway, I finally found the CD *ohthankgod* so here are some photos from our wedding reception in KL. (I had my nikah, khatam Quran and then a reception in Ipoh as well, but that was mainly attended by my Dad's friends, hence have been excluded to save you from the agony of scrolling through photos of random old people!) *chuckles*

First photo in the VIP room.

OMG check out my stick thin figure.

The beauty of having so many siblings *giggles*

Makan beradab.

Pretty Misha Omar.

Hey, dummy cake!

Sultanah Nora graciously allowed me to use her diamond encrusted tiara for the night.

One with my Papa.

Mini BBGS reunion!

Last but certainly not least, my girls for life. *hugs*
Happy 11th Anniversary dear Hubby. Here's to celebrating many many many more anniversaries in the future. Love you always!

It Has Been 7 Years Since Our Last Honeymoon...

... and now we are finally on our way for our very first honeymoon, post having kids!!!

Of course, it wasn't exactly an easy decision to leave the kids at home. So to avoid feeling guilty, I came up with the idea of giving them one present per day. Wrapped them all up with kertas kajang (plus some love notes!) and labeled it according to the date to be opened. I had a whole system okay; alternating between toys and books throughout the whole period.

Love packages.

After we had done all the packing and labeling, we called Aiden out and showed him his stash of presents. Ohhhh he got so excited! Hilang terus sedih Mummy and Daddy nak pegi. We then asked him, "How do you feel about Mummy and Daddy leaving?" He cheekily responded, "Excited!!!" *face palm*

Oh well, at least the plan worked.

Wish us a safe journey to our destination, and back. InsyaAllah *smiles*

My 8th Anniversary Surprise!

Another throwback post. Since our 8th anniversary fell on the 10th day of my confinement, I didn't expect much of a celebration this year. Perfectly understandable since there was no way I would be allowed out of the house for an intimate dinner, let alone spark some fireworks in the bedroom.

However, my husband is a man of many mysteries. I say that, because he does surprises when you least expect them. (And when you expect a surprise, there is surprisingly - none!) Come the anniversary date, we did the customary anniversary wishes (and virtual kisses through WhatsApp) and before I knew it, it was already night time and time for bed. During the confinement days, I would go to bed early as I co-slept with Ian and Aiden would insist on sleeping on the same bed as me, so once he dozes off, Hubby would lift him onto the sofa bed they both shared. (And when he wakes up in the middle of the night, he would walk over to the bed and cuddle me - imagine being squeezed between one clingy toddler and a fragile infant, not comfortable I can assure you!)

The next morning I woke up and gingerly pushed myself from between my two kids, and slowly lifted my weight off the mattress. Hubby had left for work and Aiden was still on school holiday, so I really treasured those quiet "me" moments in the morning. And.... there was a surprise waiting for me on the dining table!

A beautifully set table, lovingly done by my Hubby of 8 years.
Picture in the frame was our first picture together, back in 2004. And if you're wondering what the note said, it started with an apology for not being able to be there when I woke up and it also said that he had picked a special song to serenade me while I had breakfast. All I had to do was to press play on the iPad player. Awww...
Three stalks of roses (cos he knows how much I hate wasting money on flower bouquets). An anniversary card, and of course the gift - jewelry in the box!
Love the jewelry, but also love the pastry and sweet fruits! Maklumlah, orang tengah pantang! I obviously cheated on my pantang again that morning *grins*
The anniversary card on the side. Notice the new dining table? Will blog about that in a separate post.
I was extremely touched with Hubby's effort. Add that to my imbalanced hormones post pregnancy, which made me bawl at even the slightest things... of course I teared up when I called Hubby to thank him. Apparently he slept at 2am the previous night, writing the card and setting the table. I was even more touched when he said he checked the lyrics of the song he dedicated to me to make sure that the lyrics were appropriate! (We previously had an unfortunate incident where he dedicated a breakup song to me, so good to know that he's adamant on not repeating the same mistake.)

And... just my luck - as soon as I dived into the divine looking pastry, someone started coo-ing from the bedroom.

Check out the deep set eyes. Definitely Mummy's boy (at least for now)!
Of course, Abang Aiden woke up shortly after.
My only hope is that they grow up loving each other the way they do now.
My two out of three boys in the family. I am definitely outnumbered.
Thank you for the surprise Hubby. I love the gift, and the memory of the surprise is definitely to be treasured. See - I am a girl who is easily pleased, although I am still waiting for my dream Chanel classic 2.55 in caviar. *grin* Love you, sayang! *kisses*

A Happy 7th Anniversary with Durian and Crabs!

Nope! We did not celebrate our anniversary with a romantic getaway or even a quiet dinner. On the contrary, we celebrated it with the craziest and loudest bunch of people you could ever place together on the same table.

In a nutshell, we consumed a total of 8.5 kati Fatty Crabs, two large orders of fried rice, five sets of roti bakar, two kilograms of musang king and a buffet of durians. The people we celebrated with? My sister and my brother, my (only) eldest brother who had just arrived from San Francisco and Abang Ramli.

The last time my eldest brother was here, we had dinner at the same place and then retired to Abang Ramli's room post dinner. This time around, we did the same thing but decided to add a durian buffet in the itinerary.
Posing with a crab leg and my sister Awien, who claims she's the #1 fan of this blog of mine!
My sister, my brother and I arrived first and thus had devoured the first order of 3 kati pedas crabs and 1.5 kati kurang pedas crabs. My eldest brother and Abang Ramli were running late as there was a bit of a hiccup back at Abang Ramli's house. As soon as they confirmed that they were on the way, we ordered a new order of 4 kati and that too was devoured by them as soon as they arrived and sat down. Aiden enjoyed the food too - he had 4 helpings of his favourite Fatty Crab fried rice!

My eldest brother on the far left. Too absorbed with cracking the crabs open.

I wonder, what was Abang Ramli so happy about??!!

The massacre afterwards.
We wanted a group photo but instead of focusing on the camera, the boys really only wanted to focus on eating.

Excuse my outfit, I came straight from the engagement event in Kuantan.
Really, I was wearing the most unpractical outfit ever for a crab and durian eating affair. I wore a kaftan top with a slightly longer piece in the front. And did I mention that it rained while we were having durians? By the end of the dinner, my kaftan ends had swiped clean the toilet floor of Fatty Crab and dipped into a small drain by the roadside near the durian buffet place.

After crabs, we had durians next! We went to one of the durian buffet stalls in SS2, and started with Musang King. I have to admit, I didn't really enjoy the Musang King. Not worth the money we paid for. Then we decided to have the buffet, it was either RM15 each (for D24 durians) or RM9 (probably for crappy durian). In the end, we all settled for the RM9 buffet. Throughout the buffet, the stallkeeper just couldn't keep up with the amount we were consuming. We had to call him a couple of times to remind him to replenish the durians on our table. Some of the durians were good, some were bad. The bad ones we immediately binned, dah nama buffet! Poor Hubby who chose a seat at the end of the table, was constantly forgotten as most of the durian action was happening close to where my sister and I were sitting. He had to constantly remind us to pass the durian down the table... sorry Hubby!!!

Musang King! Abang Ramli was lamenting about the quality of the durians and how we should have gone to some dusun durian near Dengkil for better quality durians.

Model buffet durian RM9.

Brothers bonding over durian.

Even Aiden joined in the fun! That's Aiden sipping coconut juice.
So that was how we celebrated our 7th anniversary. It was certainly a memorable one. And it certainly makes me appreciate Hubby even more because only he can put up with my crazy food antics and durian cravings, despite just driving KL-Kuantan-KL and book shopping just that morning. I love you, Sayang!
